My class LOVED activity 18 – Design a King & Queen

I worked through Activity 18 with my Grade 4/5 class called Design a King & Queen. I had my students write down any observations and questions as they watched the two videos. They have never been so engaged all year! They filled the paper with observations which has never happened before!! After learning about African kings and queens and the significance of masks, my students were so excited to design and create their own. One of my students even said “this is the best day ever” during the activity, which was immediate evidence that these activities are doing exactly what they are designed to do – create a sense of belonging, love and respect for our Black Heritage.
